If you view the world through slash/yaoi-coloured glasses, then Yami no Matsuei (also known as Descendants of Darkness) is the anime/manga for you. Creator Yoko Matsushita gets her kicks out of teasing fans with pretty characters who engage in hugs, near-kisses, fondling, rape, stabbings, shootings etc. And since most of the characters are Shinigami (Gods of Death), they have miraculous healing powers and can almost always recover from their physical injuries and retain their good looks. Yay!
There are many possible pairings in the YnM universe. Almost everyone is doing it with everyone else in fanfic. For my money, Muraki and Tsuzuki have the greatest sizzle. Muraki (left) is a surgeon who moonlights as a serial murderer, occasional rapist, organ trafficker, mad scientist, and dabbler in the occult. Tsuzuki (right) is a Shinigami with a terrible past and impressive magical powers. He despises Muraki utterly...and yet has trouble resisting his advances.
This hasn't stopped them from engaging in several bloody encounters (the manga illustrates this far more clearly than the anime): mutual stabbings, near-decapitation, enucleated false eyes...
But when it comes to chemistry, these two have it in spades.
My second fave couple is Tatsumi and Hisoka. They can comfort each other while Tsuzuki is off with Muraki...and then have sex. That would be nice.
So that leaves Watari and Oriya. I can see it! Woo hoo!
